I don't think this sign is a larger corporate scheme. My store also does these signs and they change weekly/monthly. They are created by the overworked, underpaid employees who are already under a lot of pressure during the holidays. It is hypocritical to still sell the Potter books, but I have never seen this sign in any other B&N.
